Humans cannot create forests. Nature itself has created forests. We have to protect forest land and forest resources. Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma said this while inaugurating the 75th State-based Forest Festival at the Kulai 12th Class School grounds in Ambassa.
Inaugurating the Van Mahothsav, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma also said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to protect forest land and forest resources to protect the balance of the environment. He said forests are being destroyed due to various reasons. So you have to plant new trees. On July 5, tree plantation program has been taken up across the state. On this day, 5 lakh saplings will be planted across the state. The Forest Minister said that strict measures have been taken against the destruction of forest land and smuggling of forest resources. General public should also come forward in this work. He said that the forest department is working by adopting various plans for the development of livelihood centered on forest land.
Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. K. Sasikumar gave a welcome speech at the event. He said since 1950, Van Mahothsav has been organized in our country to protect the balance of the environment. An interesting cultural program was organized in the opening ceremony. Students of Kulai 12th standard school and local artistes participated in the cultural program. On the occasion of the 75th State, Van Mahothsav various tree saplings were distributed by the Forest Department.
