STATE: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu visited the Gomati hydropower plant in Tirthamukh today. During the visit, he inquired about the various issues surrounding the hydropower plant and directed the officials concerned to take initiatives for the development of the hydropower plant. After that, a meeting was held with the sub-divisional and district-level officials of various departments on the development program at the Tirthamukh Mela premises under the chairmanship of the Governor.
In the meeting, the District Magistrate of Gomati District, Tarit Kanti Chakma, highlighted the various issues undertaken by various departments for the development of the Tirthamukh area, including the Gomati hydropower project. In the meeting, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu exchanged views with the officials concerned regarding the Gomati hydropower station. In the meeting, the official of the Water Resources Department said that water is supplied to the farmers in the Karbook, Amarpur, and Udaipur subdivisions from the Gomati River for their cultivation. Besides, the Gomati district has a 42-kilometer-long canal as a source of irrigation. Around 1,500 hectares of agricultural land in the district have been brought under irrigation through this canal. In the meeting, the Governor advised the officials concerned to expand this canal. In the meeting, the official of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation said that Gomati River water is being made suitable for use, and drinking water is being provided door-to-door in the areas of Jatanbari, Amarpur, Udaipur, and other areas.
In addition, the officials of the fisheries department were directed by the Governor to take initiatives to meet the demand for fish in the state, besides rearing the fish farming families around Dumboor reservoir. He also directed the fish farmers to ensure that various government facilities were provided at the right time. At present, 1,512 fish are being farmed in Dumbar Reservoir. The Governor emphasized the scientific method of fish farming to produce more of them.
In the meeting, the Governor was notified of the various developmental works undertaken by the Rural Development Department at Tirthamukh and directed to complete the works before the next Tirthamukh Mela. Moreover, the Governor also inquired about the measures in place in case of a flood around the Dumboor reservoir. On his way back to Agartala, the Governor visited a fish hatchery at Udaipur. Fisheries officials informed the Governor about the production of hatcheries of the fish fingerlings. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu spent the night at Coconut Island in Dumbu Reservoir yesterday. The Governor also visited Dumboor Dam while coming from Narikelkunja this morning.
