Two days before polls, on Saturday, militants opened fire in two different incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, killing a former sarpanch and injuring a couple from Rajasthan.
The nation is currently engaged in a protracted six-week general election campaign. After four rounds, there are still three to go. On June 4, the votes will be tallied. Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, a former sarpanch, was shot in Hurpura village in the Shopian district.
Later, he passed away at a hospital. Another incident in Anantnag resulted in injuries to a couple from Rajasthan as well.

“After being taken to a hospital, the sarpanch passed away from his wounds. Terrorists also opened fire in the Yannar area of Anantnag district, targeting a Jaipur tourist pair, Tabriz and his wife Farha. For medical attention, the hurt couple has been taken to the hospital. An official stated that the area has been blocked off for searches.
Voting ended on April 19 and 26, respectively, for the seats in Udhampur and Jammu, and on May 13 for Srinagar. Voting in the Baramulla seat is scheduled for May 20, and in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat for May 25.

A government employee was targeted and shot dead by unknown gunmen late last month as he left a mosque in the Shadra Sharief neighborhood of Rajouri.
In a hospital, his wounds claimed his life. Terrorists shot and killed a Bihari migrant laborer on April 17 in the Anantnag area of Jammu & Kashmir.
