STATE: Since Sourav Ganguly was appointed the state’s tourism brand ambassador, Tripura’s tourism industry has seen a notable increase in revenue generation.
In the press conference, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury briefed the data on tourist arrivals and revenue generation of the tourism department in the three months of October, November, and December of the fiscal years 2022-23 and 2023-24.
He stated that during the three months of October, November, and December of the fiscal year 2022–2023, 84,217 tourists visited the state. There were 5,964 foreign visitors among them and Rs 1.02 crore revenue was generated.
Similarly, 1,55,183 tourists visited Tripura in total during October, November, and December in the financial year of 2023–2024. 19,614 foreign visitors were among them, and revenue increased to Rs 1.23 crore.
“There has been a steep increase in tourist footfall and revenue during the past three months. It has been possible because of Sourav Ganguly’s support as brand ambassador,” Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury shared his view.
Minister added that DoNER has already sanctioned Rs 30 crore to develop tourism facilities on the four islands of Dumbur Lake (waterbody) under the special infrastructure building scheme.
