STATE: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha met and congratulated Chakma Loinloom Shwal Weaver Smriti Rekha Chakma, who has been named for the prestigious Padma Shri 2024 at his official residence on Saturday.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha lauded Smriti Rekha Chakma for her efforts in empowering rural women through her organization ‘Ujeia Jadha.

Taking to his social media handle, the Chief Minister posted, “Congratulated Smt. Smriti Rekha Chakma, who has been named for the prestigious “Padma Shri” 2024, at my official residence today. The Chakma Loinloom Shwal Weaver from Nandannagar, Agartala, Smt. Chakma transforms eco-friendly vegetables dyed cotton threads into traditional designs, promoting the use of natural dyes.”

On the other hand, the Chief Minister also met with the awardee of ‘Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2024’ Jyotsna Aktar and honored her.

Jyotsana Aktar, a tenth-grade student from South Tripura, is transforming lives and making a difference in her community by standing against early marriages. Through her ‘Balika Mancha’ initiative, she’s breaking barriers to education for girls in her community.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha wished her a bright future.
