STATE : First Vice Chancellor of Tripura University Prof. Arunoday Saha, has been conferred with the state’s highest civilian award- Tripura Vibhushan, while renowned Kokborok writer Naresh Chandra Debbarma has been conferred with Tripura Bhushan Samman on the day of Statehood Day programme at Rabindra Bhawan here.
Apart from Tripura Vibhushan and Tripura Bhushan Samman, Professor (Dr.) Shantipada Gana Chowdhury received the State Citizen Award for his special contribution to science and environmental protection, the Prestigious Sachin Debbarman Smriti Samman was given to Kaberi Majumder Gupta and Maharani Kanchanprabha Devi Smriti Samman was given to Rita Roy. Subsequently, in the Statehood Day program, other awards were also given.
Tripura observed its 52nd Statehood Day on Sunday, January 21, followed by a state-level programme on Statehood Day held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, where Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other dignitaries took part.
Tripura became a full-fledged state on January 21, 1972, along with Manipur and Meghalaya.
