STATE: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the Fish Transhipment Yard at Nagichhera of Malaynagar Gram Panchayat on Wednesday to keep Agartala City congestion-free and the market areas clean.
While inaugurating the Fish Transhipment Yard, Chief Minister Saha said that the establishment of the fish transport yard at Nagicherra is a milestone of that development. He believes that in the following days, the yard will be an additional boost to the development of the Nagichherra region.
According to the Chief Minister, the State Government is developing a multifaceted plan for the overall development of the villages and cities in Tripura. In this instance, the development plan is being designed while protecting the state’s forest area. The state’s residents can profit from this progress as well.
More than 100 tons of fish arrive from outside the state each day in large trucks. They are unloaded in the Agartala city marketplaces. People suffer as a result of the severe traffic jams in the city, according to the Chief Minister.
The State Government has taken the initiative to address the citizens’ issue. A canteen, drinking water, and power are just some of the few amenities available at this fish transhipment yard. He noted that the local populace would thus profit, including the fish sellers.
Chief Minister said that one of the main conditions of development is to maintain peace.
Entrepreneurs in the area have expressed interest in constructing cold storage facilities close to this transshipment yard. The Chief Minister expressed optimism that it will lead to new employment opportunities for locals.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder said on the occasion that big trucks of fish come from outside the state every day and are unloaded at Battala Bazar, Maharajganj Bazar, and Lake Choumuhani Bazar. As a result, the market area also contributes to the deterioration of the city’s roadways and the pollution of the surrounding area. To prevent this, a fish transhipment yard has been set up in Nagichherra.
The fish transshipment yard has been built on 3 acres of land by Agartala Municipal Corporation. In this yard, a Parking facility, 24-hour water supply, CCTV cameras, etc., are also provided for security purposes. AMC Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav said that the yard would be managed through the society.
