Cyclone Mocha will not affect Tripura directly. But due to its impact, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in some parts of the state from tomorrow afternoon till May 17, with a maximum wind speed of 70 km per hour.

Therefore, four districts of Tripura were issued with an Orange alert (be alert and prepared). These districts are South Tripura, Gomati, Dhalai, and North Tripura. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in the rest of the districts of the State, according to the State Project Officer of Disaster Management.

On the other hand, a high-level review meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to deal with Cyclone Mocha in the presence of the Chief Secretary, Director of IMD Agartala.

The State and District Administrations have been ordered to be prepared, to reduce the damage caused by the possible cyclone. Control rooms have already been operational at State and District levels with two numbers, 1070 and 1077.

Cyclone Mocha, named by Yemen, is supposed to be pronounced as Mokha. The cyclone has been named after a Red Sea port city known for its coffee production.
