Flipkart Opens First Grocery Fulfilment Centre in Tripura

Agartala: Flipkart has announced the launch of its first grocery fulfilment centre (FC) in Agartala, marking a major step in strengthening its presence in the Northeast and expanding fast, reliable grocery services across the region.

Spread over 35,000 square feet, the new facility has the capacity to dispatch more than 5,000 orders daily, serving not only Tripura but also neighbouring states such as Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland. Designed to meet the growing demand for online grocery shopping, the centre will offer customers enhanced serviceability and flexible delivery slots.

The Agartala FC will feature a curated selection of over 4,000 products, including essential staples like rice, aata, and pulses, as well as snacks, beverages, personal care, and household goods. Flipkart has also incorporated locally popular brands into its assortment to reflect the tastes and preferences of consumers in the region.

Beyond boosting e-commerce infrastructure, the new facility is expected to create more than 200 direct and indirect jobs, while also opening new market access for small businesses, MSMEs, and local farmers.

Welcoming the development, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said the facility would significantly strengthen the state’s digital infrastructure, supply chain capacity, and employment prospects. “This initiative will meaningfully contribute to local employment and skill development, empowering our youths and communities. Tripura is committed to fostering a progressive and digitally connected ecosystem, and we welcome investments that align with this goal,” he said.

Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Flipkart Group, highlighted the company’s customer-first approach. “The launch of our first grocery fulfilment centre in Tripura marks a significant advancement in our efforts to enhance delivery services in the Northeast. The new FC reflects our commitment to empowering local farmers, MSMEs, and regional businesses, while creating new livelihood opportunities and fostering sustainable growth,” he said.

With this launch, Flipkart has strengthened its foothold in the Northeast, aiming to meet the surging demand for online grocery shopping while simultaneously building a more inclusive digital economy.
