Tripura Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 312.38 Crore with eight different companies on Tuesday during the Tripura Roundtable on Investible Opportunities here in Prajna Bhavan, Agartala. The roundtable conference was organized as a part of the upcoming North-East Global Investor Summit.
The MoUs include the setting up of a medical college with an estimated cost of Rs 247 crore on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model in Dhalai, with Dayton Natural Resources Private Limited.
In the day-long Investment Summit about 141 investment Companies from the state, various states, and Bangladesh joined.
Chief Minister in the conference said the development of a country or state requires a modern communication system. Development is being brought in various sectors including the communication system in Tripura. 7 National Highways are under construction in the state as a result of the Prime Minister’s keen interest in the development of Tripura. The Chief Minister also mentioned that Tripura is presently in a pretty good position in terms of internet services. He said that about 12 Express Trains have been started in the state to improve railway connectivity, which is now connecting different areas of the country with the state. Besides, Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport is now known as the unique and busiest airport in the Northeastern region. The Chief Minister called upon all investors to come forward in building industries in Tripura, making the best use of all infrastructural facilities and assured of providing all kinds of assistance from the State Government.
After the Summit, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha held Press Conference where he said necessary initiatives are taken by the State Government so that more investors show interest in attending this meeting.
He also mentioned that Tripura is currently ahead in National Highways, Railways, Waterways, and the Internet; and has good opportunities to develop natural resources and tourism-based industries. CM also stated that Tripura would soon become the Gateway to South East Asia.
Moreover, the Chief Minister expressed his hope that these investments will improve the socio-economic condition of Tripura in the future as well as create more employment opportunities.
