Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha met with the first Padma Shri awardee from Tripura, Himangshu Mohan Chowdhury, at his Bordowali residence after receiving news of his illness.

By inquiring about his health condition Chief Minister also arranged a medical team for the treatment of Himangshu Mohan Chowdhury and assured him of all necessary support from the State Government.

Himangshu Mohan Chowdhury, who was posted as SDO at Sonamura during the 1971 war, was honored with the fourth-highest Indian Civilian Award Padma Shri, for his vital role in arranging food and shelter for the refugees.
