Odisha is set to boost its rail connectivity with the proposed launch of a new Vande Bharat Express service linking Jeypore to Bhubaneswar. The demand for the high-speed train was raised by Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, who said he had taken the matter directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Responding to the appeal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday assured that the Jeypore–Bhubaneswar Vande Bharat service would commence in the coming days. He also revealed that the state government is exploring measures to revive the long-defunct paper mill, signaling a push for economic revitalization in the region.
With six Vande Bharat Express services already operating across Odisha, the addition of the Jeypore–Bhubaneswar route is expected to enhance passenger convenience, reduce travel time, and strengthen connectivity between the state’s southern and coastal regions.
