The President of India today appointed Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Judge of Jharkhand High Court, as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.
The Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification in this regard that “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Judge of the Jharkhand High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”
The collegium headed by CJI DY Chandrachud, along with other justices recommended the name of Aparesh Kumar Singh, who was the judge of Jharkhand High Court, for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.
Notably, the post of the Chief Justice in Tripura High Court has been lying vacant since November last year due to the retirement of Justice Indrajit Mahanty. Right now, Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud is the Acting Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.
