
Agartala, July 27 — In a major boost to sports infrastructure in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced that a new cricket stadium will soon be developed in Sabroom, located in the South Tripura district. The state government has already approved the land for the project.
Speaking at the felicitation and annual reunion event organized by the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) in Agartala on Saturday, Dr. Saha said, “The government has sanctioned land from the Education Department for the construction of a new cricket ground in Sabroom. The Tripura Cricket Association will oversee its development.”
Emphasizing the need for modern training facilities to nurture budding cricketers in the state, the Chief Minister also stressed the importance of establishing a state-level cricket academy. Cricket is one of the most loved sports in India. We must ensure structured and professional training for our players. The state government is committed to extending all necessary support to make this a reality,” he stated.
Dr. Saha, who shares a long-standing association with the TCA, lauded the organization’s efforts in promoting the sport and developing local talent. He called upon all stakeholders to continue working towards the advancement of cricket across Tripura.
The event witnessed the presence of several key dignitaries, including Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Tripura Human Rights Commission Chairperson Justice Arindam Lodh, TCA President Tapan Lodh, and other senior officials.
This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening Tripura’s sports ecosystem and providing young athletes with better opportunities and infrastructure to excel on the national stage.
