Tripura Hosts Second Startup Council Meeting: 29 Startups Pitch for Recognition, Total Registrations Rise to 69

Agartala, July 22, 2025 — The Second Startup Council Meeting of Tripura was held successfully at the IT Bhavan in Agartala, marking another key milestone in the state’s push to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship. The meeting was chaired by Shri Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary of the Information Technology Department, Government of Tripura.

Shri Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director of IT, along with other Startup Council members, attended the session, which drew vibrant participation from founders across a wide spectrum of sectors.

A total of 29 startups showcased their business ideas and technological innovations over the two-day session, seeking official recognition and Proof of Concept (POC) approval. These startups represented diverse domains like technology, services, agriculture, education, and more, reflecting Tripura’s expanding innovation landscape.

As per official data, 86 applications have been received so far through the state’s dedicated startup portal. Of these, 69 startups have now been formally registered under the Tripura Startup Policy. This is a substantial increase from the first Startup Council Meeting, where 10 startups received recognition.

The event underscored the growing entrepreneurial momentum in Tripura, supported actively by the Department of Information Technology in coordination with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the Digital India initiative.

To ensure inclusive participation in the state’s digital and economic transformation, the government continues to encourage engagement through platforms like MyGov India and MyGov Tripura.

Notably, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and senior minister Pranajit Singha Roy have played pivotal roles in supporting the state’s startup ecosystem, repeatedly emphasizing the importance of youth-led innovation in reshaping Tripura’s future.
