On Thursday, altogether Forty-four newly elected MLAs of the Tripura Legislative Assembly took the oath. Oath taking ceremony has been done on the Assembly premises as per its scheduled time. Pro-tem Speaker Binay Bhushan Das administered the oath to the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly.
Thirty MLAs from Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), including Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha as MLA and its Ally IPFT’s lone member and Minister Sukla Charan Noatia, took the oath.
Notably, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman skipped today’s oath-taking ceremony while the other two MLAs of Congress, Birjit Sinha, and Gopal Roy showed their presence and took the oath. As per the source, Sudip Roy Barman is to take oath on Friday.
On the other hand, eleven elected MLAs of the CPIM party took oath on the office of Pro-tem Speaker. Note that thirteen MLAs of the Tipra Motha Party, which is also the second largest party will take oath in the Assembly tomorrow.
Earlier, out of the 32 BJP MLAs, Union MoS Pratima Bhoumik of the Dhanpur Constituency resigned from her position as an MLA. MLA Binay Bhushan Das took the oath to serve as the Pro-tem Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya administered the oath to the Pro-tem Speaker.
