After the 13th General election of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and BJP’s return to power in Tripura, outgoing Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, on Friday called on Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya at Raj Bhavan and handed over his resignation as Chief Minister.

While the Governor asked him to continue as caretaker CM till the new government is not formed. Besides, the Governor also lauded the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers for their cooperation.

Dr. Saha, in a tweet said, “Today met Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Shri Satyadeo Narain Arya Ji at Raj Bhavan and submitted my resignation as Chief Minister. He accepted the resignation and asked me to continue as caretaker CM till the formation of the new government”.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came into power in Tripura once again after winning the 2023 Assembly Election with an absolute majority and a vote share of around 39 percent. According to ECI, BJP won 32 seats, BJP’S alliance partner IPFT won only one seat, and Tipra Motha party became the second largest party after winning 13 seats in this election. CPIM won 11 seats, on the other hand, the Congress party got 3 seats. 

CM Saha told  reporters that most likely swearing-in ceremony to be held on March 8.
