After winning the 2023 Legislative Assembly Election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained power in Tripura for the second time in a row with a majority.

The counting of votes began as per its scheduled time in 60 Constituency Assemblies on Thursday. Bharatiya Janata Party has tipped 32 seats alone in the 60-member assembly, whereas their allied partner Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), has won only 01 seat; which stands for 33 seats all over.

On the other hand, Left Front and Congress combined have won 14 seats which are 11 and 3 seats respectively.

In the first legislative election, Royal Scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s TIPRA MOTHA Party alone won 13 seats in the Legislative election.

BJP’s face Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who is contested from 8 Town Bordowali constituency, has won by a margin of 1257 votes and defeated the Congress candidate Asish Saha. CM Saha received 19586 votes, and got 49.77 percent of the votes, while his close contender Asish Saha received 18329 votes, and got 46.58 percent of the votes.

Though in the 2018 election, BJP won 36 seats in the assembly and got 43.59 percent of the votes. The CPIM also won 16 seats with a 42.22 percent vote share.
