Tripura is getting ready for the counting of the votes for the Tripura Assembly Election on March 2 next. March 2 is the day on which people’s verdict will choose the next Government, who is going to govern the state for the next 5 years. 

Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte inspected the arrangement of the Counting Centre in Umakanta Academy. 14 counting centers have been set up inside the two Umakanta buildings. The votes of Assembly Constituencies 1 to 5, 9 to 11, and 13 will be counted in the new Umakanta Academy building. On the other hand, in the old building of Umakanta Academy, 6 to 8, 14, and 18 votes of the Assembly Constituencies will be counted.

After the inspection, CEO Gitte said, on March 2, the counting of votes will begin at 8 AM in the state’s 60 assembly constituencies in a total of 21 constituencies. He also said that the counting center has three-tier security arrangements.

He said that there would be one micro-observer on all the counting tables. VVPAT will be counted for 5 polling stations in each Assembly Constituencies. These 5 polling stations will be decided through a lottery. As per the CEO, 60 assembly constituencies would be counted in an average of 5 rounds. The counting will begin first, with Postal Ballots from 8 AM on counting day. EVMs will start after the Postal Ballot counting is over.

Adequate security arrangements have been made in Tripura to ensure the peaceful counting of votes on March 2.
