The current State Government has adopted a Zero Tolerance Policy against drugs. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said this at the inaugural meeting of the Narco Coordination Center (NCORD) at Civil Secretariat on Thursday.

He said that recently Union Home Minister Amit Shah mentioned the adoption of a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. The state government is also working on that vision. During the discussion, the Chief Minister outlined the state government’s approach against drugs. He advised working in coordination between the concerned departments in making Tripura drug-free.

Chief Minister Dr Saha laid special emphasis on increasing the use of Dog Squad and training them along with the need for scanners in Naka areas. He also mentioned that necessary action should be taken against those who have amassed huge money and property in various ways by being associated with the drug trade.

Specifically in the meeting Kolkata-based Narcotics Control Bureau Eastern Deputy Director General Monika Ashish Batra said that the Central Government has agreed to open a zonal office of the Narcotics Control Bureau in the state. Soon initiatives will be taken to start this zonal office. 

The Chief Minister also appealed “Everyone needs to come together to make Tripura drug-free”. 
 
In the meeting the Chief Secretary, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, Secretaries of various departments of the state administration aling with zonal Director of Narcotics Bureau Sudhanshu Kumar Singh participated in the discussion.
