India’s first Bio-Village 2.0 cum Solar Hamlet’ was inaugurated at Kharansing Para in Killa RD Block of Gomati District. Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura Jishnu Devvarma inaugurated this ‘Bio Village 2.0 Solar Hamlet’ on Saturday.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarma who is also holding the department of Science, Technology & Environment said “This is first of its kind where organic farming, livestock, fishery, mushroom cultivation etc are being done under guidance of directorate of Bio Tech. They have also distributed LED Lights and power efficient fans to all the households. Today gave cash Rs. 3000/- to all 61 families of the village”.

He also said TREDA ( Tripura Renewable Energy Dev Agency) under power Dept has set up solar water purification system for safe drinking water, solar street lights, bio gas plants , solar micro grid  for free power supply to the beneficiaries, solar irrigation pumps for multiple cropping  so that marginal farmers double their income. Today TREDA also distributed bio mass cook stoves to all families. 

This day has been observed as Kharansingh Day. Initiatives should be taken to observe this day as Kharansing Day next year as well.He claimed that while this village was previously unknown, it is now well-known.

Meanwhile, the Rural Development Dept. constructed a concrete road in the village along with stalls and have extensively mordenised the community hall.
