STATE: The 32nd state-wide Hojagiri festival, which lasted for two days, was inaugurated on Friday at the Ramguna Chowdhury Para school ground in Machmara of the Pecharthal block. The festival was organized by the Bru Socio-Cultural Organization in collaboration with various departments of the State Government. Tinku Roy, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, inaugurated the festival, and Arghya Saha, the Additional District Magistrate of Unakoti, and others were present.

During his inaugural address, Minister Tinku Roy emphasized the government’s commitment to the development of culture and the well-being of the people. He highlighted that the Hojagiri festival represents more than just the traditional dance, as it embodies the hope, love, and passion of the Bru community. The Minister also mentioned the government’s efforts in various projects for the state’s development since 2018. Additionally, he acknowledged the contributions of Satyaram Reang, Benimadhav Jamatia, and Thanga Darlong, who were honored with the Padma Shri award by the central government for their special contributions to the state’s culture and development.

Minister Tinku Roy also discussed the significant improvements in the communication system in rural areas to support the socio-economic development of the people. Furthermore, he noted that the state government has established a committee to introduce the teaching of the Bru language in the curriculum, demonstrating their commitment to the cultural and educational advancement of the community.
